Everything You Need to Know About Windsor Lake

Introduction

Windsor Lake and Boardwalk Park is located in the heart of Windsor’s downtown area and host to countless community events. Windsor Lake is home of the seasonal Windsor Farmers Market, the summer concert series, 4th of July Fireworks, the All Town BBQ during the Windsor Harvest Festival to name a few.

Fishing and Boating at Windsor Lake

Windsor Lake is a popular recreation area in Windsor, Colorado. During the summer months, kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, and aqua trikes are available to rent at the Windsor Lake concessions building.

Jet skis are not permitted on Windsor Lake. All watercraft outside of the swim beach must purchase a current Town of Windsor permit to use the lake.

Motorized boats are permitted on Windsor Lake by making a reservation on a first-come, first-served basis. No motorized boats are allowed on the lake on July 4th. The boat launch is located at the southeast corner of Windsor Lake.

You can fish year round at Windsor Lake. Anglers must possess a valid fishing license. Windsor Lake is stocked with Yellow Perch Fingerling, Bluegrill, Channel Catfish, and Trout.

The Boardwalk Park is located along the adjacent to Windsor Lake.

The Boardwalk Park is a large park surrounding Windsor Lake. The park has a playground for children and an open green space perfect for picnics by the lake. Boardwalk Park is open year-round. There are 3 shelter at the park. The largest shelter is called the Market Pavilion and will hold up to 80 people. The Market Pavilion is the location for the Windsor Farmers Market.

The Windsor Lake Trail

The Windsor Lake Trail is a paved loop that surrounds the lake. The trail is 2.25 miles around the lake and is open year round, so you can take advantage of it in any season! The trail is flat and has an amazing view across the lake. The trail is perfect for strollers, bikes, and roller blades. There are restrooms located at several locations along the trail.

The Windsor Lake Dog Park

The Windsor Lake Dog Park is located on the north side of the lake. Dogs are allowed in this area, as long as they are on a leash. Dog owners must clean up after their pets and keep them under control at all times.

The Windsor Lake Boardwalk Park is open from sunrise to sunset for public use. Visitors can access it by parking along 7th St.

Swimming and Beach at Windsor Lake.

Swimming is allowed at the beach, which is located on the south side of Windsor Lake. Swimming at Windsor Lake is free and is open during daylight. Swimming is permitted within the designated area by the ropes and buoys only. It’s swim at your own risk with no lifeguards.

The Windsor Lake and Boardwalk Park are great places to visit! The park offers many opportunities for recreation, including fishing areas, boat rentals and paddle boards during the summer season. If you love being outdoors and exploring new places then this park is perfect for you!
